Jun 13, 2019  Hey everyone, I just upgraded my ASUS N56V laptop to a clean copy of Windows 8.1 (64 bit) from Windows 7 (64 bit), and all the function keys (trackpad lock, backlight, etc) are not responding. The keyboard lights up on boot, but I can't adjust it in the OS.

So this Christmas I went and got myself a new keyboard, my first mechanical one. I figured I'd be a little cheap as it was a first-time purchase, and went with the ASUS Cerberus Keyboard. Now, I'm immediately having some issues with this keyboard.

It comes pre-stock with 2 profiles, which seemingly I'm unable to edit. I have mutually exclusive issues for both of the profiles, ranging from annoying to makes-the-mode-useless.The issue I have with 'Profile 0,' as the user's guide so helpfully calls it, is that it simply can not alt-tab. Everything else works fine, and I had submitted myself to a life without Profile 1 until this issue surfaced. I've tried restarting my computer and the likes. The issue persists.

Alt-tabbing does however work in Profile 1, which leads me to the issues I have with that mode:Absolutely everything. That is to say, everything you could apply to a keyboard. It is simply impossible to write with it, and to examplify, the rest of the post will be written using Profile 1. Now, other than the writing issue which should quiickly beccome apparent, (theree it is) profile 1 is also very sensitiive on the usage of hotkeys. Sometimes it willl just outright refuse to recognize that I'm trying to alt-tab, and it thinks I'm hitting tab twice instead, which, y'know, I'm now. That small Ss before? Also the shift key not being recognized.

I geenuinely don't know what causess it, and I have tried fiddling around in the Keyboard section of the control pannel. The Kkeyboard aalso doesn't come with any drivers or softwware or thee likes, there wass an updated driver on the ASUS websitee, but it didn't acttually fix any of thee issues I'm having.So that's it. Back to Profile 0. In case it wasn't blatantly obvious, the double letters are because of the keyboard, not because of typos. Correcting them as frequently as they occur is a major pain, and the issue, as mentioned, only occurs in Profile 1.

This also happens to backspace which makes actually correcting a pain too, as it'll sometimes double backspace for no reason.Does anyone have any ideas? Any third party software that would help? Got the keyboard yourself and experiencing similar issues maybe? Please help, I can't live without my alt-tab.UPDATE: Having done some more playing around with my keyboard, I've found that the source of the Profile 0 issue is that Tab does not work. Tab works just fine in Profile 1, yet seems to be disabled in Profile 0. I have no idea how to go about re-enabling it, but I'll likely spend most of my night googling around.

I was same problem. After 10 minutes of typing I want to throw the Creberus to trashcan!But finally, I found the problem!!!ASUS manual is very-very-very stupid.It's mixed the Profile 0 (normal mode) and Profile 1 (gaming mode) description!!!Asus says: Normal mode (profile 0) = Blue backlit, Gaming mode (profile 1)= Red backlit.But they are stupid.In my keyboard, the normal profile is RED backlit, and the gaming profile is BLUE backlit. I made a simple test. With RED backlit, macros and fast fire modes are disabled, but with BLUE backlit these gaming functions are working.When you press Fn+CapsLock and switch backlit to RED (normal mode), always are OK.No more shift problem. No more repeated keys, and Tab works correctly.Or alternatively. Press Fn+Del for 5 seconds.

This reset the Cerberus and send to normal mode (RED backlit)(Sorry my bad english.). The firmware worked for me only on the second time.

The first time I couldn't use W A S D and the arrow were to slow, on the second time it did worked. The only difference between the first and the second time was the second time I installed it, I plugged-out the keyboard for 2-3 seconds after installation completed and plugged it again. On the first time I didn't do that, don't know if that action make any difference. Now there is no difference between Blue and Red except in Red I can use the rapid fire (fn+q), the winlock function and the swap function.
