Ati Mobility Radeon 9600/9700 Series Windows 7
Feb 01, 2014 ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700 Series 6. I ran the program and the installation could not complete because it recognized that I was not running Windows XP/2000. So what I did was try to install the driver directly from the device driver window. ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700 Series Hi, Win 7 (7100, x32) installed driver for this card and generally graphics is OK but I could not find any version of ATI Control Center or Catalyst package. It was some working for that card in XP.
I use a notbook with above Display adapter and the driver version installed is 8.561.0.0. When I try to install the ATI Catalyst Driver 9.5 for Vista the installation does not work and I can't get the driver installed. With the current driver and my Windows 7 RC installation I face the problem with sleep and hibernate that the screen remains black if I wake up the computer for the second time (everything is fine with the first wake-up). What would be the latest driver version for the mobility radion display adapter that works with Windows 7 and where can I find it and maybe also what do I need to do to get it installed?
Unfortunately it looks like ATI/AMD is not supporting the Mobility Radeon 9600/9700 series in their current driver betas for Windows 7. According to on their website it looks like they have discontinued support for this line and have left driver support up to computer manufacturers.
ATI has been releasing new driver betas for Windows 7on a consistent basis but at the moment it looks like they do not support the Mobility Radeon 9600/9700. 'AMD may periodically provide Windows XP and Windows Vista driver updates (for the products listed above) for critical fixes only. No new features will be provided in future driver updates. The Linux ATI Catalyst™ driver will only be supported in Linux distributions prior to February 2009 for the legacy products listed above.Any customers using a combination of a ATI Radeon™ HD 2000 Series, ATI Radeon™ HD 3000 Series, or ATI Radeon™ HD 4000 Series product with any of the legacy products listed above in a single PC system must use the ATI Catalyst 9.3 or earlier driver. All future ATI Catalyst™ releases made available past the ATI Catalyst™ 9.3 release will not include support for the legacy products listed above or any of the features associated with those legacy products.'
As for your issue with a black screen when returning from hibernate, I have a similar problem that seems to be fixed by turn my brightness up and down very quickly. Until I do that, the screen is not backlit when I wake it. Maybe this will work for you. Another thing that may work (if you can faintly see the login screen even though your LCD backlight may not be on) is to type in your password and log in. Sometimes the screen brightens up again automatically as soon as I get to the desktop. Hi there, 1) The latest Win7 compatible driver for your card is your installed one, 8.561.0.0. ATI Catalyst 9.4/9.5 is not suited for your card, as clearly stated on the AMD/ATI download sites.
The latest one released for XP was 9.3 but even this one was not released for Vista (that is wrong, sorry, a desktop version exists). 2) The sleep/hibernating issue is most likely a problem with Win7 itself, as it shows up on a great variety of video cards. Interesting enough, I have exactly the same card as you, the same driver (8.561), and sleep/hibernate works without any problems. 3) Finally, the modding tool (MobilityModder.net) won't help you because there is no newer desktop graphics driver for the 9600/9700 series (beyond 9.3) that could be modded into a mobility version.Mob.
