Choosing A Space Marine Chapter

I'm an ex tau player and i want to get into space marines. I'm a rather skilled 40k player i like the Ultramarine paint scheme but i don't really like the rules for it, i like terminators and scouts with snipers. Can i choose another chapter and run with the Ultramarine paint scheme. Space Marine Chapters. A Chapter is a self-contained Space Marine army usually made up of a thousand or so Space Marines, as well as a large number of administrative and functionary personnel. The Adeptus Astartes is divided into roughly a thousand Chapters. Each constituent Chapter is autonomous and constitutes a complete army, with its own leadership, support and administrative staff. This article presents a cut-down version of Fantasy Flight Games' Deathwatch Role-playing Game's Space Marine Chapter Creation Tables, allowing you to create your own Chapters, albeit without in-game mechanics.

I just read through the Transport rules – all these auras only apply when not embarked. This really limits the usefulness of a lot of these characters. You're either left foot slogging it, doing a captain on a bike, or limiting the use of your auras to when you disembark prior to trying to charge I guess. Also, I guess they don't want people to be able to field Chapter Masters for custom chapters since they're trying to be sticklers for successor chapters being unable to use named characters (unless the character is from that successor chapter) and there is no entry for a Chapter Master anymore? You need to get out of your METAL BAWKSES and fight like a (genetically engineered super-)man now. I’m honestly okay with this change, for the most part, as I just don’t like “the visual” of a Space Marine Captain or an Eldar Phoenix Lord hunkering down inside an APC. I’d like to see some sort of “command vox” added to Imperial Guard Chimeras and Tau D’evilfish, allowing them to extend auras from inside, since it does make narrative sense for them to hunker down inside an IFV.There is no more generic Chapter Master, at all, and the rules explicitly forbide the ages old tradition of “counts as” when fielding a Successor Chapter or homemade Chapter. So all the time I spent building a Guardians of the Covenant army and the elaborate conversion I made for my Belial is all for naught.

At least, officially. I really don’t think very many people in the community will care.
